It’s Saturday morning, and harvest is winding down around here. While I have been out and about doing interviews for Women Behind the Plow; I have been neglecting sharing any of that information with you – or maybe I am not sharing so the display will be a complete and joyous surprise in October of next year.
Winter’s coming. That’s when I will be editing videos and transcripts and doing photos and such. I do need about 2 more interviews so if someone is interested, please let me know.
On a side note; I was thinking… about phones and moms today. Remember the age before cell phones, computers, Facebook and Tweets? I do. That meant we looked forward to Saturday mornings so we could call our mothers at a reduced rate courtesy of Ma Bell. We would talk for an hour having saved the events of the week for that big moment when we heard each others voices. It was a fabulous time of sharing. And, you knew if the phone rang during the middle of the week that it was quite possibly a bit of bad news or maybe someone’s baby had been born.
So, as I move about the kitchen slowly today – waiting for the laundry to be done to hang it up outdoors – I was thinking it’s time to call my mother. It will be a short visit because we now talk several times a week – thanks to Verizon’s free phone minutes.
I’ll be back in earnest by the end of October, when the days are considerably shorter and the sun is closer to the earth. The earth in turn turns a chilly shoulder to that sunshine and reminds us that snow is too soon around the corner.
Take a moment and call your mother, or an aunt or a sister or a friend. It’s Saturday morning.
