German Apple Cake

I’m not sure why this cake is so named, but it is the most delicious and easy recipe for apples you can find. And, with this recent frost, there are apples out there ripe for the picking. We lost ours to the deer and the wind and the flood, but I had some canned from last year’s crop. Either fresh, frozen or canned, this cake is like eating apple pudding with nuts and cream cheese. So… I thought I would share it with you. If anyone knows why it is called German Apple Cake, please share that with us. Thanks.
