Thank you for the comments

Hi Sue,
I have a solution to the question about the Thursday line in the poem from the Meidingers.  In many German dialects, “net” is the same as “nicht”.  A loose translation of that line would be something like “I also don’t like getting much done on Thursday,” or “I also don’t like working on Thursday”.  A nicer translation might be something like “Thursday I don’t get much done.”

Der Montag ist der Anfang
Dienstag schaff Ich was Ich kann,
Mittwoch ist der Wochenmarkt,
Donnerstag schaff Ich auch net gern,
Freitag lass Ich Freitag sein

Samstag bringt den Sonntagrein.

I’m not a native speaker of German, so I might be missing some of the nuances of that line, but I think I can confidently say that Thursday isn’t the day for washing the net curtains!

Thanks for posting some interesting items!
